Two exceptional keyboard artists from the Austrian jazz scene meet for the very first time at OPEN JAZZ VIENNA:

Pianist Viola Hammer and keyboardist & sound researcher Philipp Nykrin create a creative space where improvisation meets surprising electronics and transcends the boundaries between jazz-typical interaction and experimental sound.
Viola Hammer, known for her powerful piano playing, brings a distinctive poetic musicality and free interpretive force to this project. Philipp Nykrin, whose work transcends styles, ranging from acoustic keyboards and synthesizers to electronic sound painting, is a sound innovator whose pieces create spaces that are both intimate and expansive.

In this First Contact set, Hammer and Nykrin explore their shared aesthetic horizons for the first time. Jazz in its original sense: a play with time, sound, silence, and connection through listening.
