"Essentials" is the title of the second album by celebrated Viennese-based tenor saxophonist Anna Tsombanis. Her brand-new project TSOMBANIS4 and its exceptional lineup are causing a sensation. With two double basses, saxophone, and drums, the composer, known for her penchant for the low notes, explores the sonic possibilities of the lower register, giving them ample space. With this unusual lineup, she challenges traditional listening habits and delights audiences with innovative soundscapes. She is joined by Swiss bassist Andreas Waelti and Austrian bassist Beate Wiesinger, whose diverse timbres harmonize perfectly and complement each other. The ensemble is carried by drummer Herbert Pirker, whose energetic playing has a lasting impact on the quartet's sound, while Anna Tsombanis advances into new spheres with her rich and warm tenor sound.
