PROGRAM
The first edition of OPEN JAZZ VIENNA is themed “Open Up” and thus celebrates the artistic openness, diversity and cross-genre character of the current jazz scenes in Europe.
Jazz has become an open and genre-crossing art form. The Austrian jazz scene is also at the forefront of the international scene and will form the basis of the OPEN JAZZ VIENNA program.
"We are creating a new music festival based in Vienna that opens doors to the world. We are demonstrating that Austrian and international artists must share the same stage in the world of jazz."
This openness is reflected both in the programming of the festival and in the character of the venues used, because OPEN JAZZ VIENNA is intended for the jazz crowd as well as for newbies:
Following its successful premiere in 2024, the OPEN JAZZ VIENNA Festival returns on November 20th and 21st, 2025, with a focus on Austria. The “FIRST-CONTACT-CONCERTS” will bring musicians together in unprecedented constellations. The unique aspect: each concert is a true premiere – a musical experiment.
Saxophonist Anna Tsombanis, nominated for the 2025 Jazz Prize, will perform with her new quartet. The up-and-coming seven-member band KATATROPIC will also take the stage. With a walking concert— a musical happening in public space—the festival once again showcases the diversity and openness of the Austrian jazz scene, bringing jazz to unusual locations in Vienna.
OPEN JAZZ VIENNA – a festival for jazz fans and newbies!
